What Do I Feed My 12-18 Month Old?
Welcome to the world of toddler feeding! Over the next few months your child will be trying a variety of new foods. Remember to stay patient with your little one, as it may take an average of 15 times to accept a new food! Please use this guide as a basic idea for serving sizes and amounts for daily foods to offer your tot.
- Age 12-18 months
- 4 or more breast feedings* per day
- OR 12-16 ounces whole cow’s milk, yogurt, cheese or cottage cheese
- Wean from bottle
- 4-8 ounces in a sippy cup
- No more than 4 ounces per day of juice per day
- ½ cup cooked cereal
- 1 cup cold cereal
- 1 slice bread
- ½ bagel
- 1 oz crackers
- ½ cup pasta or rice
- ¼ to ½ cup of mashed or finely chopped per day
- Finely chopped or ground meats, poultry or fish
- Eggs
- Legumes
- Variety of safe finger and spoon foods
